T'ibs We't

A traditional Ethiopian dish of sautéd beef with berbere and red wine.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup spiced butter
  • 2 large red onions, sliced
  • 6 tbsp. Ethiopian berbere, ground
  • 1 kg filet mignon, cut into 1/2'' cubes
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup canned tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • salt

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, heat together wine, salt, and tomatoes.
  2. In a heated wok, sauté together onions, garlic, butter, and berbere. Cook 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Add beef and jalapenos. Cook another 2 minutes.
  4. Add wine and tomato mixture. Cook another two minutes and serve.
